Shawnee State Bears are National Champions!
The Men's Basketball program claimed the National Championship in the NAIA National Tournament on March 23 when they defeated Lewis Clark State (Idaho) 74-68 in Kansas City, MO. Head Coach DeLano Thomas ('16) was named NAIA Coach of the Year, and seniors James Jones and EJ Onu were named to the NAIA All-Tournament Team. Jones was also named the NAIA National Tournament MVP.

Alumna discovers her career path at Shawnee State
Dr. Amy Heim ('09) enrolled in Shawnee State to pursue a career in art before she found her passion in dentistry. Graduating from the Pre-Med program, she attended dental school and eventually returned to her home community to open her dental practice.

Alumna's time in Peace Corps leads to pursuing a career in Public Health
Stacia Martin ('19) chose her major at Shawnee State to pursue her goal to help lower income communities access health care. Living in South Africa for three months before the COVID-19 pandemic, Stacia trained to assist in HIV education for the community. Now she has returned stateside and has enrolled in a Master of Public Health program to continue to pursue her career goals and expand her knowledge of non-profit organizations.

Shawnee Magazine 2020 Feature: Young Alum Finds Success through College Credit Plus
Last spring, Abby Keith ('20) graduated from Shawnee State earning her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the same time she received her high school diploma.
Enrolled in College Credit Plus (CCP) courses beginning at age 12, Abby took on early college work hoping to challenge herself academically.
"I am fortunate to have a family who have been nothing but supportive of my academic endeavors."
